Justin Cross is an interdisciplinary filmmaker. Since 2021, he has been developing short animation and live-action projects. In 2022, he started tutoring introductory level digital art, animation, English and literature on a freelance basis. In his latter years in college, he was also a teaching assistant for animation courses at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago's Continuing Studies department. In 2025, he graduated from SAIC with a Bachelor's of Fine Arts in Studio.
I primarily make works for a younger audience. Typically, my work uses the lens of science fiction and fantasy as allegory or enhancement of interpersonal narratives.
The modes used to create my moving image works are writing, animation, photography, and sound. Despite mostly working with images, the process of lo-fi musicians has always been something that resonates with me. I am very interested in large worlds through a small lens, which is a sentiment I hear echoed through the dialogues of lo-fi creators.
Most recently I have been refining my technical abilities through the creation of shorter projects. However, I am also working on synthesizing these skills into longer and more thematically thorough works.
